The pilgrims' route and destination
Annaberg has been an important pilgrimage station on the Via Sacra, the holy road to Mariazell, for over 800 years. The Way of the Cross, which Annaberg designed with enamel panels based on designs from the estate of Annaberg painter Prof. Sepp Gamsjäger, is also popular. But hikers are also in the right place here: Annaberg has been part of the elite circle of Austrian Hiking Villages since 2018.
Challenging peaks, magnificent views and a fascinating gorge.
One of the many exciting hiking tours - also suitable for families - leads through the famous Ötschergräben in the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park. The Tirolerkogel and Hennesteck are scenic destinations around the hiking village, which has been awarded the Austrian Hiking Seal of Quality.
Haflinger horses keep you on your toes
Haflinger horses have been bred in Annaberg for 80 years. On riding stables and farms, which also offer rides and courses for all age groups. In summer there are special riding camps for children. Experienced riders can ride through the countryside on signposted bridleways.

The Annaberg lifts family paradise
Located in the wild and romantic mountain world of the Mostviertel mountain area, the Annaberg lifts offer everything that families expect from an ideal vacation.
In addition to a leisurely lift ride up the Hennesteck, adventure-seekers can look forward to a spectacular descent on the Annaberg zipline. You fly down the mountain at speeds of up to 120 km/h on 4 ropes stretched side by side, overcoming 386 meters in altitude. At "Nikis Alm-Abenteuer", children discover the harmonious interaction of landscape, leisure activities and rural use. In the freely accessible Annaberg mini bike park with pump track, skill track and flow line, you can practise your riding skills and mountain biking off-road.
The ski area has it all in winter: families and beginners love the Anna-Land with its rope lift, magic carpet and mysterious Anna forest. The Anna Park with the "Family", "FunCross" and "Waveride" areas offers variety for every winter sports enthusiast. For those who want something more challenging, the FIS downhill run and the slope of the Almboden lift are ideal. The wide north-west slope offers ideal conditions for carving down the piste in long turns.
At 1300 m above sea level, the Anna-Alm invites you to stop for a bite to eat with homemade home cooking and fresh pastries and offers a fantastic panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys of the Alpine foothills.

But the real attraction of Annaberg is the fairytale forest and mountain landscape at the foot of the Ötscher, where the snow glistens as if it were sprinkled with diamonds. Romantics can treat themselves to a ride on a horse-drawn sleigh or take a leisurely snowshoe hike through the glittering magical world.
If you want to admire Annaberg and the surrounding area from above, put the skins on your touring skis and hike up the Tirolerkogel (1377 m). When the weather is fine, you can see as far as the Hochschwab and the Gesäuse.
Advanced cross-country skiers can also enjoy the Annaberger trail. The trail leads to a unique high plateau. What the Annaberger trail offers experienced cross-country skiers, beginners will find on the Lassingtal-Joachimsberg trail (10 km): a magnificent view of the majestic Ötscher.
