Hainfeld
Description
Ideal for excursions and short breaks: Hainfeld in the district of Lilienfeld lies in the dreamy Gölsental valley. The village was first mentioned in documents as a market in 1280. 13 villages - such as Gölsen, Ob der Kirche, Bernau and Gegend Egg - make up today's area of the nature-loving and particularly sporty municipality.
Hainfeld: excursion tips & sights
The main square with its modern sculpture and water features is always worth a visit. Popular Excursion destinations are the Hainfeld Museum - with ten historical themed stations, narrated by high-quality talking dolls - and the unique museum of historical beer mugs. Incidentally, this is located right next to the traditional Hainfeld brewery, which offers exciting tours of the brewery for groups.
By the way: another special company feature in Hainfeld is "Schmid Schrauben Hainfeld": Austria's only screw factory now employs around 200 people.
Leisure highlights in Hainfeld
The highest point in the municipality is the Kirchenberg at 924 meters. Hikers love the well-marked climbs and especially the three-hut hiking trail: as the name suggests, the route runs along three huts - the Liasenböndl hut, the Hainfelder hut and the Lindenstein hut. A great tip, especially for families with children, is the forest nature trail on the Vollberg.
In addition, family-friendly Hainfeld offers many leisure facilities for young and old: from the historic - and completely modernized - town swimming pool in summer to the Dallinger ski lift and the nearby Gaisberg lift in winter. The Voralpen sports center, which opened in the mid-1970s, offers facilities for soccer, curling and tennis.
