Hotel Mariazellerhof

The Pirker family from the famous gingerbread manufactory runs three café-restaurants with gingerbread stores in Mariazell: the **** "Mariazellerhof" hotel 150 m below the basilica, the "Pirker am Hauptplatz" hotel and the new "Pirkers".

On the first floor of the "Mariazellerhof" hotel there is a well-kept café and a store where you can buy the famous Mariazell gingerbread (more than 80 different varieties), herbal bitters, mead, liqueurs, distillates, vinegar and beeswax candles - all made by hand and from the hotel's own production. The comfortable guest rooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the hotel and have been newly designed and lovingly renovated.

The Pirker on the main square is a beautiful Art Nouveau building with a wonderful terrace. The café-restaurant right opposite the basilica is a popular meeting place with homemade pastries and a gingerbread store around the corner. Those interested in the history and production of Mariazell gingerbread can find out more in the "Gingerbread World" and show bakery (guided tours with tasting by arrangement). There is also a wax-drawing and distillery in the house.

The large gingerbread bakery can be visited and in the new "Pirkers", also located directly on the main square, Styrian and Italian specialties await hungry pilgrims and connoisseurs.

Tip: Georg Rippel is available as a Via Sacra expert and overnight guests are welcomed with a pilgrim's gingerbread.
