Altenmarkt-Thenneberg culture station
Kleinkunstbühne.Tonstudio.Kulturcafe.Herberge
"A thought has taken hold of us and has not let go. A thought about the possibilities of this place with its almost 150 years of history and its energy of meeting and stopping. We always find like-minded people who want to work, stay overnight or simply be creative in this place. We are all united by independence, personal responsibility and an appreciation for the work of others." (Daniela and Matthias Schorn)
After careful adaptation work, the Altenmarkt-Thenneberg station, built in 1877, shines in its new, old splendor and invites visitors to experience the "energy of stopping" in its very own way.
Until the closure of the Weißenbach-Neuhaus-Hainfeld section of the line in 2005, the building was a meeting place for almost 130 years, a place of exchange, a place to travel, change trains and arrive. A place with a very special energy, a place that has countless stories to tell. In 2017, exactly 140 years after the station opened, the station site was acquired by Daniela and Matthias Schorn and returned to its original purpose after some adaptation work.
Where trains used to stop and depart from all directions, people should once again arrive, stop off, cross thresholds and then be able to leave and continue their journey strengthened and encouraged.
Altenmarkt-Thenneberg station will once again become a meeting place. A stop for art from all directions with a cabaret, recording studio, cultural café and accommodation for pilgrims.

We would like to expressly support cultural diversity as well as non-profit associations and regional initiatives with our rental offers.
Please let us know the desired time and type of event as well as the expected number of people and we will be happy to make you an individual offer after a joint discussion.
Kulturcafe (open only on event days or on request)
As if it had missed its last departure in 2005, a Uerdingen rail bus from the 1960s stands on the old tracks in front of the station building, which seems to have found a beautiful new purpose as a gastronomic meeting place for the public and artists on event days or on request.
Those who stop off at Altenmarkt-Thenneberg station should arrive, get off, discover new things and then be able to travel on again, encouraged and invigorated. In this holistic sense, we want to offer not only artistic and creative encounters but also culinary experiences in our Uerdinger rail bus, which has been converted into a small café.
Enjoy selected coffee and tea specialties, taste Krems Valley ("Kremstal" in German) wines and Hainfeld beer delicacies or refresh yourself with Triestingtal natural juices. On special days, there are hearty snack surprises or homemade mug cakes.Regionality, sustainability, organic farming and a personal relationship with the producers of the products on offer are among the basic requirements for responsible enjoyment.
Our coffee comes from the Alt Wien roasting plant in Vienna's 4th district, the tea specialties are produced by the Sonnentor company in the Waldviertel and the beer comes - quite literally - from Hainfeld. The best natural juices are produced by Josef Krenn in Furth an der Triesting, Dani's cousin Ludwig Buchecker supplies us with his award-winning wines from Gedersorf in Krems Valley ("Kremstal" in German) and if you would like a spoonful of honey with your tea, we will be happy to bring a sample from Matthias' beehive to your table.
Parking/refueling
A sufficient number of parking spaces are available at the former railroad station. A charging station for electric cars (type 2 socket) at the entrance to the station and 3 sockets for e-bikes directly at our covered bicycle parking area next to the station building can be used free of charge during your stay.
