Description
The trail starts in Perchtoldsdorf at the parish church and leads via the Pfarrer-Karl-Seemann-Promenade into the Föhrenberge Nature Park to the Parapluieberg (Franz Ferdinand-Schutzhaus, 01:15 h). From there, the route continues through sparse deciduous forests via the Kammersteinerhütte, Kugelwiese and Seewiese - past Wildegg Castle - to Sittendorf (03:00 h). Via Meierei Füllenberg you come to the highway underpass, behind which the Heiligenkreuz cemetery is already located. From the cemetery, you soon reach the baroque Calvary of Heiligenkreuz Abbey, via which you can reach the abbey in a few minutes (01:30 h). From the monastery you finally reach Mayerling (01:15 h).
Vienna-Rodaun variant: This variant takes you from Vienna-Rodaun (terminus of streetcar line 60) via the Schillerpromenade into the municipal area of Perchtoldsdorf, past the Waldsanatorium to the Perchtoldsdorfer Heide. At the Parapluieberg you meet the ascent coming from Perchtoldsdorf.
