Burg Neuhaus und Pfarrkirche
Church, Fortress
Description
The Neuhaus parish church is part of the castle complex (1251) and was built between 1610 and 1612 as the Protestant Church of the Redeemer by Hans Christian Wolzogen with a family crypt.
It was destroyed during the Turkish siege in 1683 and later served as a storage room for the mirror factory set up in the castle. In 1733, the castle church became a Catholic parish church and was given a Baroque interior. In 1945, the parish church was badly damaged during the war.
The church and the parish hall were last renovated between 2004 and 2006. Under the motto: "God is the light", the parish church was designed to be bright and friendly. It offers space for around 100 people, has a restored organ and is dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk.
In the following years, the central part of the castle was renovated and converted into a modern event center. The castle hall, which is accessible by elevator, was opened in September 2018. Since then, the castle and church have been available for events of all kinds, such as church and civil weddings, concerts, theater, birthday parties and company celebrations. The event center with the outdoor areas castle terrace, Lindenhof, Gwölb Burgsaal and catering kitchen can be rented by anyone for various occasions.
