R.kath. Pfarrkirche St.Aegyd

The foundation of the parish of St. Aegyd am Neuwalde has so far been placed in the middle of the 12th century (Wolf p. 155, Hist. Stätten Österreichs I p. 509), but this cannot be substantiated by sources.
It must be taken into account here that the manorial expansion of the area did not take place until the beginning of the 13th century. As a result of the foundation of Lilienfeld in 1202 ff., the Hohenstaufer family had to abandon not only their ancestral castle but also Altenburg an der Traisen and now built Hohenberg Castle, after which a branch of the family called itself from then on.
