Wallfahrtskirche Basilika Klein-Mariazell
Church, Monastery / abbey
Description
The former monastery
The former Mariazell Monastery in Austria, now Klein-Mariazell, is located in the western part of the foothills of the Vienna Woods, in the upper Triesting Valley. Klein-Mariazell belongs to the market town of Altenmarkt an der Triesting and lies on the "Via Sacra", the old pilgrimage route from Vienna to Mariazell in Styria.
There have been ups and downs in the course of its history, but now the church shines in new splendour. A religious community has also settled here again - the Samaritan FLUHM brothers. They look after eight parishes in the Upper Triesting Valley, the former main pastoral area of the abolished Benedictine monastery.
Guided tours
Guided tours of the basilica are offered all year round. You can choose between half-hour and full-hour tours.
The cost of a half-hour tour is €2 per person and the hour-long tour costs €4.
