Wallfahrtskirche Joachimsberg
Church
Description
On the path between Annaberg and Josefsberg, a hill rises gently to the left, named after the husband of St. Anne and the father of Mary. The 829 m high elevation used to be called "an der hohlen Tanne" until the Bohemian Count Johann Joachim Slavata had the little church built in 1679, the year of the plague, in honor of his patron saint, St. Joachim, thus creating an important place of worship for pilgrims on their way to and from Mariazell. In 1684, Count Slavata had the precious baroque furnishings built - above all the high altar, the greatest artistic treasure of the parish of Annaberg. From Joachimsberg you can enjoy a magnificent view of the majestic Ötscher and the mountain landscape of the Alpine foothills.
