Your stay
The Steinschalerhof is located in the charming Pielach Valley, winner of the European Destinations of Excellence Award 2007. The valley is also affectionately known as the "Dirndl Valley" - after the many dirndl bushes and fruits that thrive there. We are only 20 km from the A1 highway (St. Pölten), but already in the heart of the Mostviertel.
The Naturhotel Steinschalerhof was created from a typical Mostviertel square farm with many charming details and its own style. The family-run hotel offers every comfort, has state-of-the-art technology and, above all, focuses on the careful and sustainable use of its resources.
Tip: Your four-legged friend is not only allowed here, but also very welcome! Extensive hiking and walking trails, an organic bathing pond, access to the restaurant and treats in the room will also delight your dog!
From the wild herb kitchen
The regional connection also has a positive impact on the cuisine, which has been "crowned" with the Green Toque. The Weiß family has been cooking with wild plants for over 20 years. The basis for this are their own wild herb gardens, which have now grown to 48,000 m2 and 1,000 different plant species. All vegetables, salads, edible flowers and around 120 different culinary, medicinal and aromatic herbs come from these gardens, which are cultivated according to permaculture principles and provide fresh ingredients even in winter.
In addition to the Steinschaler wild herbs, the Mostviertler Cider and Dirndltaler Dirndln play leading roles on the plate and in the glass, at tastings, garden and cooking courses and in the farm store. After the harvest, many fruits and herbs are processed into delicious jams, juices and pestos. A rich selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes - from starters to desserts - is a matter of course in the Steinschaler Wildkräuterküche, not least because the daughters of the host family are committed to a vegan diet.
