Weißenbach or Furth – Furth/Schromenau – Steinwandgraben – Muggendorf/Thal – Unterberg – Rohr im Gebirge

Description

Follow the valley to Furth/Schromenau (01:30 h). Here the trail splits again - direct route through the Further and Staffgraben, steeply up to the Kieneck with the Enzianhütte (04:00 h) and to the Unterberghaus (02:45 h). The suggested hike into the Steinwandgraben to Thal in Muggendorf and along the Myrabach to the Unterberg parking lot is easier. From here, climb steeply up the Alpinstein to the Unterberghaus shelter (SH) (Schromenau - Unterberg 07:00 h). From the shelter, walk to the Maria Einsiedl pilgrimage church and take the alpine trail to Rohr im Gebirge. This leads steeply downhill on a forest path to the former Gries inn and from here flat on an asphalt road to Rohr im Gebirge (03:15 h).

From Vienna:

South Motorway A2 towards Linz – continue on Vienna Outer Ring Motorway A21 towards Linz/St. Pölten – exit Mayerling towards Alland – continue on Mödlinger Straße B11 towards Alland to Weissenbach an der Triesting.

ÖBB train connection from Vienna with transfer in Leobersdorf.
