Weißenbach or Furth – Furth/Schromenau – Kieneck – Unterberg – Rohr im Gebirge

Description

From Landgasthof Bruthenne, the route follows the valley to Furth/Schromenau (01:30 h). Here the trail forks again - direct route through the Furthergraben and Staffgraben, steeply up to the Kieneck with the Enzianhütte (04:00 h). You are now in alpine terrain at over 1,000 meters above sea level. Take care in bad weather. After the Enzianhütte, continue on alpine terrain to the Bettelmannkreuz and the Unterberg refuge (02:45 h). Here you have reached the alpine highlight of this tour. The route now continues along forest paths into the valley to the former Gries inn and along the road to Rohr im Gebirge (03:15 h).

From Vienna:

South Motorway A2 towards Linz – continue on Vienna Outer Ring Motorway A21 towards Linz/St. Pölten – exit Mayerling towards Alland – continue on Mödlinger Straße B11 towards Alland to Weissenbach an der Triesting.

ÖBB train connection from Vienna with transfer in Leobersdorf.
