Details for: Vienna Pilgrim Route: Stage 2/5: Mayerling - Klein-Mariazell - Kaumberg

Brief description

Mayerling - Maria Raisenmarkt - Holzschlag - Hafnerberg - Klein Mariazell - Kaumberg

Description

From Mayerling, asphalted paths and country lanes lead to Maria Raisenmarkt. The route continues through the forest to Holzschlag (@ 02:00 h) and via Nöstach to the Hafnerberg pilgrimage church (01:15 h). The Viennese pilgrims' trail leads from Hafnerberg over beautiful mountain paths to the once again active Klein-Mariazell Abbey (02:00 h) and on to Kaumberg (03:45 h).

Southern variants via Peilstein to Rohr im Gebirge: From Holzschlag to Peilsteinhaus, via Neuhaus to Weissenbach an der Triesting and to Furth/Schromenau (03:45 h). Here the route splits again - direct route through Furthergraben and Staffgraben, steeply up to Kieneck with the Enzianhütte (04:00 h) and to the Unterberghaus (02:45 h).
The hike into the Steinwandgraben via Gasthof Jagasitz/Kreuth to Thal in Muggendorf and to the Unterberghaus (Schromenau - Unterberg 06:30 h) is easier. Please note: For the southern variants, a different stage division of the overall route is required.

Valley variant Via Sacra to Kaumberg: From Hafnerberg, the Via Sacra runs via Altenmarkt and Thenneberg to Kaumberg.
